After a three-year break from releasing solo music, Niall is back with a new album titled The Show. Niall performed part of the leading single from the album on the Late Late Show with James Corden, to positive praise. The first thing that was noticeable when listening to Niall sing the track was the harmonising, adding a Crosby, Stills & Nash element to his usual alternative pop style. The snippet was so good that many fans took to Twitter to predict that The Show would become the best album this year.
It’s been a busy year already for Niall, starting with the launch of a website called heavenwontbethesame.com, where fans found a candle burning down with the caption that NH3 was loading. This had fans checking the website religiously for updates, desperate to find out if and when a new Niall album could be expected. Some even speculated on if the positioning of the candle at the window was a hint of things to come!
The fans weren’t disappointed, as the candle finally burned out on the 26th of January that Heaven would be released on the 17th of February.
Tiktok has been a massive part of the single’s promotion. Although using Tiktok can be hit or miss, as many artists, such as Sam Smith have found out through trial and error, the method seems to have worked well for Niall, with many fans greedily snapping up any and all snippets of the song before it was even heard in full.
In addition to Tiktok, Instagram has been used to promote the single, showing just how powerful social media can be.
Niall’s friends also assisted in promoting the single, mentioning having listened to it or offering congratulations. Louis Tomlinson posted on Instagram that he was listening to the single, praising Niall with a characteristic “Yes lad!!!”
The single was mentioned by Ryan Hennessey from Picture This, who stated on his Instagram stories “It’s a good one Nialler, I’ll give you that.” Sam Thomson also named the single hit record of the week on Hits Radio Uk, for which Niall posted his thanks on Twitter.
In LA on the 19th, a pop-up event occurred to promote Heaven. Niall sang the track live for fans and then greeted them, posing for photos. There was even a Heaven-inspired room for fans to explore.
The Show will be released on the 9th of June and is available now for pre-order.
