SUMMER OF LOVE PLAYLIST
The ‘Summer Of Love’ is a well known and popular term. It’s everywhere, from prom themes, to song titles, to references in movies. Everyone has heard of it, even if they don’t quite know the ins and outs of its origin. But what, actually, is it? Where did it come from? And why is it still used today?
During the summer of 1967, the world saw a boom in the growing hippy ‘free/one love’ movement that had been gaining traction across the US and Europe at the time. The main concept of the hippy movement was to travel and communicate with people as much as possible as a means of getting to know the real you better. This focus on travel spanned from Europe to India and became known as the ‘hippie trail’. Generally, hippies lived as freely as possible, both in terms of bartering or using as little physical currency as possible, and in terms of having no rules or restrictions on themselves. A lot of emphasis was placed on dabbling in experiences that could feel good physically and alter your state of mind, so sex, drugs (especially cannabis and LSD), and music (The Doors, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, and The Beach Boys to name a few) were all highly explored.
The movement surged in popularity and the press labelled this time the ‘Summer Of Love.’
With this in mind, No Stunts have created a ‘Summer Of Love’ playlist of our own!
