There are some songs that weave themselves into the fabric of this fandom. For many of us, one such song is Shania Twain’s classic, “You’re Still the One.” Released as Shania Twain’s first single to both country and pop radio, “You’re Still The One” captivated audiences with heartfelt lyrics and infectious melody. Penned by Twain herself and then-husband Robert “Mutt” Lange, the song soared to the number 2 spot on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, marking a monumental crossover success.

Harry Styles voiced his love for the song in October of 2013. During Twitter questions on the Take Me Home tour in Melbourne, Australia, the boys were asked “What one song did you listen to growing up that you still love to listen to now?” Harry whispered his answer to Niall Horan, too shy to say it out loud. Niall asked, “Do you want me to tell ‘em for you?” After a nod from Harry, Niall said, “Harry says “Still the One” by Shania Twain.”

He brought it up again twelve days later during another round of Twitter questions in Australia. The boys were asked what embarassing songs they had on their iPod. Harry said “Well, I have one,  I’m not embarrassed though, I’m not embarrassed!” He hesitated but eventually said, “Okay, it’s Shania Twain. Have you heard ‘You’re Still the One’ though?” During the interview there was a bit of fonding between Harry and Louis, and the song became a fandom favorite.

In June 2018, amidst the ecstatic excitement of fans at Madison Square Garden, Harry Styles took to the stage alongside Kacey Musgraves, announcing to the crowd, “We’re gonna sing one of my personal favorites.” Together, they embarked on a journey through the soul-stirring melody of “You’re Still the One.” Styles’ velvety vocals intertwined seamlessly with Musgraves’, breathing new life into Twain’s beloved anthem.

Continuing his homage streak, Styles once again graced the Coachella stage with a rendition of “You’re Still the One,” this time accompanied by the iconic Shania Twain herself, resulting in a moment of pure magic. Twain shared insights into their collaboration in an exclusive clip from her interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, reminiscing, “I was so relaxed about it.” Having known Styles for some time prior, Twain recounted the negotiation process: “I was out of the country for that first weekend… He said, ‘I really want you to do the first weekend.’ Like, ‘Is there any way?’ And I’m like, ‘Ah.’ You know?”

Fortunately, Twain’s schedule aligned, allowing for the unforgettable collaboration witnessed by fans on the second night of Coachella. Harry infused the song with his signature style while wearing a custom rainbow paillete jumpsuit by Gucci.. Their joint performance captivated the crowd, and left Twitter (X) in a frenzy.

Certain songs stand as monuments to love, and resilience. Shania Twain’s “You’re Still the One” is undoubtedly one such song, and Harry Styles’ heartfelt tributes serve as a testament to its enduring impact. Not to mention the clear message sent to the fandom, to keep calm and Larry on.
